Abstract

Electrochemical sensors have emerged as powerful tools for detecting heavy metal ions in water due to their high sensitivity, selectivity, and rapid response times. we explore recent innovations in electrochemical sensor technology for the detection of heavy metal ions in water and discuss future directions for research and development in this field. The presence of heavy metal ions in water poses significant risks to human health and the environment, making the development of sensitive and reliable detection methods crucial. Electrochemical sensors offer several advantages, including portability, ease of use, and real-time monitoring capabilities, making them well-suited for on-site detection applications. advancements in electrochemical sensor design, including the development of novel electrode materials, miniaturization techniques, and signal amplification strategies. Additionally, we discuss innovative approaches for enhancing the selectivity and sensitivity of electrochemical sensors through the use of molecular recognition elements, such as aptamers and molecularly imprinted polymers.
